Discription:

Polyvinyl alcohol is a white or slightly yellow granular or powdery, stable, non-toxic water-soluble polymer. Polyvinyl alcohol has good film-forming properties, and the formed film has excellent adhesion, solvent resistance, abrasion resistance, tensile strength and oxygen barrier properties. Polyvinyl alcohol has both hydrophilic and hydrophobic functional groups, so polyvinyl alcohol has the properties of interfacial activity, and can also be used as a protective colloid for polymer emulsification and suspension polymerization.
The main properties of polyvinyl alcohol PVA are determined by the alcoholysis degree and polymerization degree of the molecule, and have the following properties:
1. Water solubility: PVA is easily soluble in water and insoluble in almost all organic solvents; the viscosity of the aqueous solution and the viscosity of the PVA aqueous solution vary with the degree of polymerization, temperature and solution concentration.
2. Film-forming property: The aqueous solution of PVA is easy to form a film, and its film has excellent physical properties such as tensile strength and wear resistance.
3. Hygroscopicity: The film of PVA has low hygroscopicity, and the change of hygroscopicity with humidity is smaller than that of other water-soluble polymers.
